Veteran Affairs Disability Pension
If you were in the navy, Veterans Affairs is obligated to compensate veterans and their families who have contracted disease as a result of exposure to asbestos. Merchant marines can also be compensated if the ships that they sailed on were known to have contained asbestos. In practice – but not exclusively – this means navy veterans exposed to asbestos onboard their ships.

The Royal Canadian Legion
Since 1926 The Royal Canadian Legion has remained committed to advocating for those who serve and for all Veterans and their families including Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP members.
As a national organization committed to our Veterans, their families, and the communities they call home, we offer programs and services for a wide variety of groups on both local and national levels. Veterans Ombudsman
At the Office of the we work to ensure that Veterans, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP, and other clients of Veterans Affairs Canada, are treated respectfully, in accordance with the Veterans Bill of Rights, and receive the services and benefits that they require in a fair, timely, and efficient manner.
